Rainford’s Goby (Koumansetta rainfordi)

The Rainford’s Goby is a small and peaceful reef fish known for its beautiful green body and orange-red stripes. It spends most of its time sifting sand and picking small organisms from the substrate, making it an interesting and active addition to a mature reef aquarium.

This species is best suited for established aquariums with a healthy sand bed rich in microfauna. In new systems it may struggle to find enough natural food, so careful feeding and observation are recommended.

Care Notes

Rainford’s Gobies naturally feed on micro-organisms and algae found in sand beds. They do best in mature aquariums where they can constantly graze throughout the day. Many individuals will also accept small frozen foods when offered regularly.

Provide a soft sand substrate and a peaceful environment with compatible tank mates.
