Frequency: 1–2× daily, small portions.
Foods: Enriched mysis and brine shrimp, finely chopped marine meats, small marine pellets; occasional copepods.
Keeping: Best singly or as a true bonded pair; conspecifics often fight in small tanks.
Tankmates: Peaceful species only. Avoid boisterous wrasses, dottybacks, large hawkfish, and aggressive clowns.
Introduction: Add early; easily bullied. Provide multiple retreats.
Acclimate: Slow drip 30–45 min; dim lights.
Stress management: Quiet environment, tight lid, and cover all gaps around plumbing.
Notes: Will “dart” into a burrow or rock crevice when startled; may refuse food until settled.
