Siganus doliatus – Barred Rabbitfish
Product Description
Barred Rabbitfish (Siganus doliatus) is an attractive herbivorous marine fish recognized for its distinctive vertical dark stripes and peaceful temperament. Native to the Indo-Pacific region, this species inhabits coastal reefs and lagoons where it feeds primarily on algae and plant material.
In marine aquariums, Siganus doliatus is valued for its algae-grazing behavior, helping control nuisance algae while adding movement and contrast with its bold striped pattern. Like other rabbitfish, it is generally calm and suitable for community aquariums with similarly peaceful species.
Rabbitfish possess venomous dorsal spines, which they use for defense. While they are not aggressive, care should be taken when handling or working inside the aquarium.
