The Red Banded Goby lives in symbiosis with pistol shrimps (Alpheus randalli). It's quite shy and therefore shouldn't be socialized with big, hectic fish. Due to their small size (up to 4 cm) the Gobies can be kept in nano tanks from 60 liters, best keep them as a pair. As feed granular food, flakes and frozen food are suitable. Overall a very easy to care animal.

The Tiger Pistol Shrimp (Alpheus bellulus) usually live together with symbiotic gobies. The symbiosis pair will move into a shared burrow and is very interesting to watch. Especially in nano aquariums and other small tanks the behavior is very entertaining. This pistol shrimp grows to about 5 cm. Thanks to its wide natural range, it can be kept with all symbiosis gobies, for example the Yellow prawn-goby (Cryptocentrus cinctus), the Hi Fin Red Banded Goby (Stonogobiops nematodes) or Amblyeleotris species (A. aurora, A. guttata, A. periophthalma, etc).
