Maxspect Nano-Tech Bio-Block is a biological filter medium consisting of porous ceramic blocks. It provides a large surface area for beneficial aquarium bacteria and helps build effective biological filtration without requiring large amounts of bulky material.

Increased surface area for bacteria

The porous structure between the ceramic beads provides an attachment surface for bacteria. The material acts as a growth medium for bacteria; biological filtration develops as the bacterial colony matures.

The block shape is easy to place in a sump where you want plenty of biological filtration surface in a clearly defined space.

Placement and maintenance

Place the material in a location where water can flow around it. Regularly remove any accumulated debris. Maxspect recommends maintaining the material approximately every six months and cleaning or replacing only a portion at a time so that a functional bacterial colony remains in the system.

The required quantity depends on the aquarium's bioload and other filtration.
