Maxspect Nano-Tech Anaerobic Block is a biological filtration material designed for nitrate control in saltwater and freshwater aquariums. The combination of two ceramic blocks and a catalyst placed between them supports the activity of bacteria that convert nitrate into nitrogen gas.

How the system works

The structure of the blocks is designed for bacteria that thrive in low-oxygen conditions. The reduction of nitrate is based on biological denitrification, so the effect develops along with the bacterial colony and is not instantaneous.

Installation and maintenance

Place the two blocks horizontally on top of each other in the sump and place the denitrification catalyst in the recess between them. According to the manufacturer's instructions, the catalyst should be replaced approximately every two months. Clean the blocks in stages so as not to disturb the entire bacterial colony at once.

Monitor nitrate levels by testing and adjust usage according to the aquarium's bioload.
