Maxspect Nano-Tech Bio-Sphere is a biological filtration medium consisting of porous ceramic spheres. It provides a growth surface for beneficial aquarium bacteria and helps establish effective biological filtration without the need for large amounts of space-consuming material.

Increased surface area for bacteria

The porous structure between the ceramic granules provides an attachment surface for bacteria. The material acts as a growth medium for bacteria; biological filtration develops as the bacterial colony matures.

The spheres can be placed, for example, in a sump or a suitable filter. The included filter bag keeps the media contained and makes it easy to remove for cleaning.

Placement and maintenance

Place the material in a location where water can flow around it. Remove accumulated debris regularly. Maxspect recommends maintaining the material approximately every six months and cleaning or replacing only a portion at a time to ensure a functional bacterial colony remains in the system.

The required amount depends on the aquarium's bioload and other filtration.
