Reef-top Pipefish (Corythoichthys haematopterus) , also known as the Dragonface Pipefish or Messmate Pipefish, is a slender, peaceful species that grows up to 18 cm. In the wild it lives among coral reefs, often weaving gracefully through rockwork in search of tiny crustaceans. In the Aquarium it prefers a mature Reef tank with plenty of live rock and a steady supply of copepods or other small live/frozen foods. Best suited for peaceful Reef Aquaria without aggressive or overly active tankmates, this fascinating fish is considered reef-safe but requires stable water conditions and a well-established system.
