Rhodactis inchoata – Rhodactis Mushroom Coral
Rhodactis inchoata is a cnidarian belonging to the Discosomatidae family, often referred to in the hobby as a mushroom coral. It forms disc-like, soft polyps, the surface of which is often bubble-like or knobby. In a reef aquarium, this coral is known particularly for its striking colors and its ability to form multiple individuals in the same colony over time.
Rhodactis corals generally thrive in moderate to slightly calmer flow and low to medium lighting. Too strong a flow can prevent the polyps from opening fully. In good conditions, the polyps expand significantly, and the coral can spread by dividing or growing new individuals in the immediate vicinity.
The species occurs in various color morphs. Typical shades include green, brown, red, purple, and various multicolored combinations. In some individuals, the surface can form spectacular bubble-like structures, often referred to in the hobby as "bounce" style.

Good to know
Rhodactis corals can occasionally move slowly on the aquarium surface while searching for a suitable spot. They can also reproduce by dividing or by leaving behind small tissue fragments that develop into new polyps.
