Banded Pipefish (Doryrhamphus dactyliophorus)

Doryrhamphus dactyliophorus, also known as the Banded Pipefish, is a striking pipefish recognized by its long, slender body and bright red tail. Its pale body is adorned with dark reddish-brown or almost black vertical stripes, making the species easily identifiable.
This species actively moves around reef structures, spending time particularly near rock overhangs, caves, and corals. Unlike seahorses, pipefish are relatively good swimmers and typically do not rest on the substrate.

The Banded Pipefish is best suited for experienced hobbyists and a mature reef aquarium with plenty of live rock and natural microfauna. The species is sensitive to feeding competition and does not thrive in the company of aggressive or highly active fish.
