Flame Hawkfish (Neocirrhites armatus)
A striking and unique species known for its bright red coloration and amusing "perching" behavior. The Flame Hawkfish enjoys resting on rocks and corals, observing its surroundings, and brings a lot of life to the aquarium.
Size: approx. 8–10 cm
Origin: Indo-Pacific (e.g., Hawaii, Japan, Polynesia)
Recommended aquarium size: at least 100–150 liters
Behavior:
Peaceful but can be territorial towards other species of similar size. Not an active swimmer; spends a lot of time "perching" on rocks and structures.
Compatibility:
Compatible with most species, such as clownfish and tangs. Not recommended to be kept with other hawkfish.
Note:
Not entirely reef safe. May eat shrimp and other small invertebrates.
Feeding:
Easy to feed. Readily eats frozen foods (mysis, artemia) and high-quality pellets.
Suitability:
A good choice even for beginner hobbyists due to its ease of care.
