Percnon planissimum is a small, flat-bodied crab that naturally inhabits rocky coastal areas and intertidal zones. This species moves quickly across rock surfaces and uses its long legs for efficient climbing.
The crab primarily feeds on algae and organic detritus, which is why it is sometimes used as part of a reef aquarium clean-up crew. Due to its small size, the species is also suitable for smaller marine aquariums.
Like many crabs, Percnon planissimum can be opportunistic regarding food. When well-fed, it is generally quite peaceful, but individual differences occur.
