The Compact Fleece Filter efficiently directs polluted water through the Inlet into the dirt-water compartment. As the water passes through the fleece, it flows back into the sump. When the fleece becomes loaded with dirt, the flow decreases and the water level in the dirty water compartment rises. Once it reaches a certain level, a level switch activates the motor, which advances fresh fleece.
This process is fully automatic. Depending on the waste production in the system, it will take approximately 3 to 6 months until the complete fleece is used and needs to be replaced. The fleece is extremely fine, ensuring that even the smallest particles are removed. This filtration occurs before the waste is metabolized biologically, which helps relieve the biofilter and protein skimmer in seawater setups.
The fleece pores are fine enough to capture many protozoa, including fish parasites in both fresh and saltwater, making this feature unique. When the accepting roll is full or the releasing roll is empty, it can be easily removed from the filter. Both components can be separated for straightforward fleece disposal.
